Rusalka with Jellyfish is part of a series entitled Deep See which is an exploration of experiences and beings which reside deep in the sea, cosmos, and the subconscious. She, and her companion piece Rusalka with Squid are solitary deep sea mermaids, the moment this painting takes place is the first time upon which the two beings encounter the other of their kind in the depths within which they reside.
